Greensboro Children’s Museum

Located downtown on North Church Street, Greensboro Children’s Museum is designed to encourage hands-on learning through thoughtful play. It offers a fun and engaging environment for kids of all ages. The whole family is invited to investigate more than 20 exhibits, including Water Wonders. With this display, children will discover a variety of learning stations and experience the fascinating feeling of playing with water.

Head outdoors and be prepared to be awed by the play plaza. It consists of two 30-foot-tall European-imported Neptune XXL climbers. A 25-foot suspended net tunnel connects these structures. This innovative playground taps into a child’s creativity through problem-solving.

Greensboro History Museum

The Greensboro History Museum is a division of the City of Greensboro Library Department and is a wonderful place filled with tokens of the city’s unique and diverse history. Head to this free museum on Summit Avenue when you want to connect with others through engaging exhibits, educational programs, and community dialogue. Wander through the interesting period rooms, gaze upon the extensive pottery collection, and learn about the original settlers, local mills, plus the area’s part in the Civil War and its peace-time reconstruction.

Greensboro Science Center

Experience the wonders of the Greensboro Science Center on Lawndale Drive. It features a museum, an aquarium, and a zoo all in one outstanding location. The Wiseman Aquarium is home to sharks, penguins, otters, and stingrays, while the Animal Discovery Zoo’s residents range from tigers to lemurs.

In addition to amazing animals from around the world, this center’s museum lets you walk with prehistoric dinosaurs and embark on an oceanic adventure at the interactive SciPlay Bay exhibit. Remember to stop by the OmniSphere Theater and catch an amazing 3D show that brings science to life.

The Historic Magnolia House

Located at Gorrell Street, The Historic Magnolia House is a local treasure that’s listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It was once a welcome resting spot for various famous African American writers, actors, musicians, and athletes as they traveled around North Carolina from the post-Civil War era until 1968.

This former motel was a highly recommended place to stay in six editions of The Green Book. Entertainers like James Brown, Ray Charles, and Tina Turner played in the street with neighborhood children and signed autographs on this historic gem’s front porch.

Weatherspoon Art Museum

The Weatherspoon Art Museum is on the campus of the University of North Carolina Greensboro. Its mission is to enrich the lives of the community with its modest collection of modern and contemporary works of art.
