5 Reasons to Check Out the 2020 Explorer LimitedThe Ford Explorer received a complete makeover for the 2020 model year. This popular SUV now has a rear-wheel-drive platform, more space in the cabin, and it has a new 10-speed automatic transmission. Ford offers the Explorer in five different trim levels, with the Limited trim in the middle of the lineup. This midlevel model has something for everyone, from its power to its technology and safety. Here are some reasons to check out the 2020 Explorer Limited.

  1. The Power

The Limited trim comes with both a gas-powered and hybrid powertrain. The gas engine is a 2.3-liter turbo four-cylinder that develops 300 horsepower. Rear-wheel drive comes standard, with all-wheel drive available if you want. The Limited hybrid has a 3.3-liter gas engine and an electric motor that sits between the engine and the transmission. The pair develops 318 horsepower and 322 pound-feet of torque. The hybrid also comes with rear-wheel drive and offers all-wheel drive as an option.

  1. The Exterior Look

The Explorer Limited has 20-inch polished alloy wheels, automatic LED headlights, LED taillights, and configurable daytime running lights. It comes with a hands-free power liftgate, a capless fuel cap, and power-adjustable and heated side door mirrors with integrated turn signals. This Explorer also gets dual chrome exhaust tips, LED fog lights, and rain-sensing windshield wipers.

  1. The Cabin

Inside the Limited, passengers sit on leather upholstery, and the driver gets a heated and leather-wrapped steering wheel. Paddle shifters provide a sporty driving experience, and the power tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel makes it easy to adjust. Heated seats for the front and second row come standard, along with a 40/20/40 split for the second row and a 50/50 split for the third row.

Head to the back of the Explorer Limited, and you’ll find a cargo area behind all three rows with 18.2 cubic feet of storage. Fold the third row down to open it to 47.9 cubic feet, and if you fold down both back rows, you can fit over 87 cubic feet of gear back there.

  1. The Technology

Just like the other Explorers in the lineup, the Limited comes with an 8-inch touch-screen display, Bluetooth, two USB ports, FordPass Connect with a Wi-Fi hot spot, satellite radio, and you get Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Limited upgrades the stereo to a 12-speaker Bang & Olufsen system with HD radio, and it adds a 110-volt power outlet. It also comes with a convenient wireless charging pad for your phone.

  1. The Safety Features

Standard safety features for this Explorer include a rearview camera, the MyKey system, and Ford’s Co-Pilot360 suite of advanced driver aids. Co-Pilot360 includes a pre-collision system with automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, lane-keeping assist, automatic high beam headlights, a blind-spot monitoring system, and rear cross-traffic alert.
